Poltroons 12 – Pax River 5

It was a beautiful, if sultry, day to play in a magnificent river-side setting surrounded by clans, kilts, and bagpipes (even if we did continue to get jerked around on the game-time). We finally kicked off shortly before 4:00 pm and had a very spirited match with the Pax River Old Boys.

We got a lot of good work out of the pack and the back-line, with the forwards digging the ball out of rucks and mauls and re-cycling it to backs who used it productively. Phil Dorsey was a try short of a hat-trick; the referee apparently took exception to the indelicate way Phil threw forearm shiver at a would-be tackler and negated what would have been a try. It was a satisfying win and we celebrated with a few pints just outside a barn filled with fiddle music. Life could be worse, we ought to do this more often.
